St Elizabeth's Tour

In the Homeland of Saint Elizabeth

Our pilgrimage departs from Füzér – the end of the St Elizabeth Way in Hungary – and going through the magical Zemplén Mountain arrives in Sárospatak, the assumed birthplace and place of baptizing of St Elizabeth. On our way we pass quite forests, tiny villages, and magnificent castles. On our last day we end our pilgrimage with the visit of the Gothic style Castle Church and the ruins of the Royal Chapel, which was built in the 10-11th centuries, and where the little Elizabeth was probably baptized.

Cycling on St Martin Way

A Rejuvenation of Body and Soul
in the Pannonian Spas on the St Martin Way

5 Days - Departure May 31, 2017

Cycling distance: 144 km (Szombathely – Pannonhalma)

On this special pilgrimage we set out from Szombathely, the native town of St Martin, to arrive at the Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey, part of the World Heritage. It is Hungary’s earliest abbey dedicated to commemorating St Martin of Tours, where sky and earth, past and present unite. During the pilgrimage we visit spas and shrines, so we can rejuvenate and refresh ourselves not only in the body, but in the soul as well. We will mostly cycle on flat roads with low traffic.

St Martin's Tour

In Protection of Saint Martin

5 Days - Departure September 15, 2017

Walking distance: 170 km (Szombathely – Pannonhalma)

We depart from Szombathely towards North on St Martin Way (Via Sancti Martini). We discover Western Hungary following the traces of medieval ways while we can enjoy the comfort of castle hotels. The destination of our pilgrimage is the Benedictine Pannonhalma Archabbey where past and present, sky and earth unite and a relic of Saint Martin of Tours is kept.

St Mary Way (Entire Tour)

In the Footsteps of
Hermits and Royal Saints

15 Days - Departure July 14, 2017

Walking distance: 175 km (Bakonybél – Esztergom)

We depart from the Saint Mauricius Monastery of the Bakonybél Benedictines on St Mary Way towards Zirc. Following the journey of Saint Gerard of Csanád, who once was a hermit here, we arrive in Esztergom after walking through woods, hills and spectacular canyons. Esztergom, the medieval centre of the Kingdom of Hungary, has been the archbishop’s residence of the Hungarian Christianity to the present day. The top attraction of our journey is a boat trip on the Danube: nothing is more impressive than arriving on a boat in the wonderful Budapest bathing in evening lights. The city – which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage – is often called the Pearl of the Danube.

5 Days - Departure July 19, 2017

Walking distance: 52 km (Bodajk – Tata)

We depart from the first Marian shrine of Hungary, Bodajk, which was often visited even by Saint Stephen I, first king of Hungary and his son, Saint Emeric (Imre), and where several miraculous healing occurred in the last centuries. Going through the romantic Vértes Hills we get to the highlight of the tour: the Camaldolese Hermitage. Our walking ends near Tata, where we go by car. This town is one of the loveliest ones in Hungary, full of lakes and springs.

Walking distance: 63 km (Tata – Esztergom)

This walking pilgrimage starts from Tata, the Town of Waters, and going through the quite Gerecse Hills, we pass by small villages, natural wonders. St Mary's Tour on the Balaton Uplands

5 Days - Departure August 14, 2017

Walking distance: 82 km (Tihany – Sümeg)

On this pilgrimage we walk through one of Hungary’s most beautiful landscape: the Balaton Uplands famous for its luscious wines. On our journey we are accompanied all along by romantic ruins of churches and castles, charming small villages and most of all the miraculous panorama of the Balaton, the biggest freshwater lake of Hungary, in which we will have a few opportunities to take a dip after a day’s pilgrimage.

The path we take connects Hungary’s two outstanding ecclesiastical values: the millennium old Benedictine Abbey of Tihany and Sümeg, which became one of Hungary’s prominent Marian shrine after the first miraculous healing took place in 1699.
